The challenge in setting an old favorite like Charles Gabriel's beloved hymn is in balancing freshness with familiarity. Ralph Manuel accomplishes this by changing the opening of the hymn to minor mode and then proceeding as usual.  There are enough occasional surprises in his harmonization that it never becomes stale.
