Slow, layered vocal phrasing and quiet dynamics are incorporated in this serene setting of Christ’s eternal words of comfort.  The music gathers forces in the middle of the anthem when our Lord acknowledges the reality of tribulation and His power to overcome it.  The greatest appeal, perhaps, is provided by a lyric violin obbligato that reflects the changing emotions of the text throughout.  Violin part is included in the octavo.  Also available in SSA voicing in SSA Craig Courtney.
