SATB  Beginning with an a cappella melody reminiscent of palinsong, this anthem weaves the tale of the suffering Christ.  The pointed descriptions in J. M. Neale's text make this particularly vivid for Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services, although it is suitable for Lent.
