New Organ Editor: Marianne Kim

Beckenhorst Press is pleased to announce that Marianne Kim has accepted the position of Organ Editor. 

Born and raised in Korea, Marianne studied piano and composition at Busan High School of Arts and earned a BM in composition at Pusan National University (Busan, Korea). After working professionally for more than a decade in the United States, she returned to school and earned dual Masters of Music degrees in jazz studies and organ performance with scholarships and prizes from Northern Illinois University. 

Now based in Chicago, Marianne is known for her vibrant performances and compositions for piano, organ, and harpsichord in a wide diversity of musical styles, such as classical, jazz, Broadway musical, R&B, gospel, traditional and contemporary church music, and more. She currently teaches organ and harpsichord at Northern Illinois University, as well as other courses at Wheaton College and North Park University, holds the esteemed position of principal organist at Christ Church of Oak Brook, and leads two local chapters of the AGO (American Guild of Organists) in the Chicago area.

With over 400 titles in print with numerous publishers, Marianne brings a wealth of organ skill and experience to Beckenhorst, and will provide outstanding energy and visibility with her editing and her arranging/composing as we seek to reinvigorate our organ publications. Organists can expect Beckenhorst to make significant contributions to organ repertoire for both intermediate and advanced organists, as well as piano/organ duets, with the style and quality that Beckenhorst is always known for.
