Why do we sing a "new song to the Lord"?  Because He heard our cry, drew us up from the pit and set our feet on the rock of salvation.  Donna Jo Butler does a superb job of bringing Psalm 40 to life through driving rhythms, syncopation and a contrasting middle section.  Most of all, this anthem has that elusive quality we always seek as a publisher of sacred choral music - appeal.
