Description

In Jewish histroy, the Jubilee was a year-long celebration held every fifty years in which all bondsmen were freed, mortgaged land was returned to the original owner and land was left fallow.  in Charles Wesley's powerful text, the jubilee becomes a metaphor for God's redemption and salvation.  Isaiah's timeless words of the Lord's favor, later fulfilled by Christ, become the opening choral statement and a mighty fanfare ushers in a newly composed hymn-tune sung by choir and congregation together.  Approriate for festival days.  Brass quintet parts (BP1467A) are available.
