The words of this anthem are found in the 29th chapter of I Chronicles, King David's prayer in response to the generosity of the Israelite's gifts of precious stones and metals for the building of the temple.  Mr. Courtney's declamatory vocal writing, use of chordal harmony and a fiery accompaniment set a mood that is both emphatic and ardent for, in the words of King David, "everything in heaven and earth is Thine".
