Beckenhorst Press welcomes Rob Ellis to our choral catalog with this fine setting of "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross."  Set to a mournful tune, Isaac Watt's words take on a new meaning while the oboe comments with minor statements of the beloved melody, Hamburg, in each interlude.  We reach familiar territory in the final verse when Mr. Ellis switches from minor to major modality, adds congregation and leads us in a powerful statement of Hamburg.
